After a quick break, the PGA Tour resumes this week, kicking off its FedEx Cup Fall at the Procore Championship at Silverado Resort & Spa in Napa, Calif.

Most of the stars we saw two weeks ago at the Tour Championship, will be taking this week off and likely, much of the fall series. The Procore Championship is the first of eight events making up the FedEx Cup Fall. Ultimately, this stretch will determine the top 125 players in FedEx Cup points and, therein, eligibility for the 2025 season, which begins in Kapalua, Maui, in January.

The BMW Championship will take place at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado. We haven’t seen this course on the PGA Tour since 2006 when it hosted the final edition of The International, a Tour event that began in 1986 and was the first tournament to use the modified Stableford scoring system. Located less than 30 miles outside of Denver, the golf course sits at roughly 6,300 feet above sea level. It will be the longest course to ever host a PGA Tour event at over 8,100 yards. It is a par-72 Jack Nicklaus design.

And then there were 70.

The postseason has begun on the PGA Tour, with the top 70 players in FedEx Cup points making their way to TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tenn., to kick-off Round 1 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The Wyndham Championship is the final regular-season tournament of the 2024 PGA Tour season. How it plays out will determine the top 70 players for the year in the FedEx Cup points standings. Those top 70 players then advance to the FedEx Cup Playoffs, beginning next week in Memphis, Tenn. — and they also lock up a Tour card for 2025. There’s a lot on the line this week in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The FedExCup Playoffs are only two weeks away, but the 2024 golf season has one more major-type event up its sleeve to keep us plenty engaged, and that is the chase for Olympic gold this week in Paris, France.

Major championship season has concluded and it is time to shift toward the PGA Tour’s postseason. Two more regular season events remain before the FedExCup playoffs get underway with the top 70 players in the points standings qualifying.

The final major championship of the 2024 golf season is upon us, and my favorite of the four majors is here. It is the 152nd playing of the Open Championship and it will be held at Royal Troon with 158 players scheduled to tee it up on the coast of Ayrshire, Scotland, on Thursday.

Who wouldn’t want to play golf in Scotland for the next couple of weeks?

After a trifecta of birdie-fests stateside, the PGA Tour spends the next two weeks across the pond, beginning with the Genesis Scottish Open in North Berwick, followed by the final major championship of the season, the Open Championship at Royal Troon.

This Fourth of July will be a day of fireworks. But firepower? Not so much on the PGA Tour. When play gets underway at the John Deere Classic, in Silvis Ill., many of the game’s biggest names will be sitting out, enjoying a lull in the schedule before things ramp up again at the Scottish Open and Open Championship.

The past seven weeks have been quite the run of big-time events in golf. We’ve seen two major championships, three Signature Events, and two of the longest-standing classics in golf, the Canadian Open and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club.

Off a thrilling finish at the U.S. Open and a historic result at the Memorial prior to that, the best players in the game have assembled again this week (well, Rory McIlroy has withdrawn) for an event that has often gone on beyond 72 holes. Five of the last 13 editions of the Travelers Championship have been settled in a playoff. If you want to bet on that happening again, the odds are roughly 4-1.

For the 124th edition of the U.S. Open, we are going to back to a golf course that opened 117 years ago. Pinehurst No. 2, an American classic, for this season’s third major and our national championship.

For the second time in the last month, the PGA Tour is using one of its most illustrious events to act as the precursor to a major championship. In May, it was the Wells Fargo Championship, a Signature Event, preceding the PGA Championship. Now, it is the Memorial Tournament, also of Signature Event status, coming the week before the U.S. Open.

Golf bettors and golf enthusiasts are in the middle of what is a very good run of events. It began with the Wells Fargo Championship three weeks ago. The PGA Championship and Charles Schwab Challenge made up the last two weeks on the schedule. This week, we are north of the border for the RBC Canadian Open and then it is on to a Signature Event at Muirfield Village for the Memorial Tournament, followed by the third major of the season, the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

Three weeks ago, the PGA Tour was in McKinney, Texas, for the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, a mainstay on the Tour calendar, paying tribute to one of the legends of the game. This week, we are back in the Lone Star state, in Fort Worth for the Charles Schwab Challenge.

The pieces of golf’s puzzle all seem to be falling into a nice arrangement as we head into the second major championship of the season, the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

If you heard that bell ring, it is signifying that recess is over and it’s time to get back to work.

While we are definitely not downplaying the recent team win by Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry at the Zurich Classic or Taylor Pendrith’s breakout victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson last week, we are recognizing the fact that the stakes are being taken up a few notches for the next couple of weeks in the world of golf.

For the fourth straight year, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson will be contested at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, just about a half-hour north of Dallas. If history holds true, we are in for a birdie-fest this week as the average score of the three prior editions of this tournament has been better than 24-under par.

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, has now won three of his last four starts. While his pre-tournament price of around +450 to win The Masters looked so short, it also appears that trying to beat him looks a lot like trying to beat Tiger Woods during his prime when he too was trading at these types of prices.

It always feels like a long wait but I guess that is part of what makes it special when it shows up on the calendar yet again. Yes, early April has returned and it is Masters Week 2024. On Thursday, 89 golfers will renew this glorious, annual tradition, playing the 88th edition of this historic major championship at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
